I am selling this lovely vintage Marantz Model 5220 Stereo Cassette Deck. The deck has been serviced and is optically impeccable. It runs smoothly, but the phones connection does not work properly and will need to be looked at.

Due to regular inflow of new hi-end audio gear and the resulting lack of space (and the oh so powerful WAF), I have decided to part with my Etalon Suprampli amplifier (customized in a lovely dark blue colour – the one and only!).
This no-nonsense amplifier, which is in absolute mint condition and only been played for a ridiculously low number of hours since new, has proved to be a match made in heaven especially with the Swedish iconic Rauna Leira II concrete speakers. This combo needs to be heard.

This model is no longer in production. People familiar with this Hungarian brand can attest to the unique signature/”house sound” and transparency which characterize all their models, regardless of price. Rauna of Sweden can now (as of March 2017) offer its customers a factory upgrade for the entire Rauna and Opus 3 speaker series. With this upgrade, your vintage Rauna or Opus 3 speakers will be fitted with updated crossover section and new drivers. The company has also developed a new damping material which it claims will eliminate the final concrete speaker cabinet colouration. This new damping material is said to result in improved dynamics, a better three-dimensional sound stage, better mid-range and, above all, a higher resolution at all levels.
With this factory upgrade, it is reassuring to hear from Rauna of Sweden that the natural and uncoloured sound characteristics, which has always been a hallmark for these speakers, has been fully maintained.
The Rauna speaker series
1. Rauna Leira
For the Rauna Leira speakers, the company offers two upgrade kits. Upgrade kit 1 consists of 2 x 6,5 inch coated paper bass driver units, 2 fabric treble soft domes and 2 crossovers. This upgrade costs SEK 5000.
Upgrade kit 2 is the same as upgrade kit 1, but with the drivers/cones mounted on an MDF baffle, all nicely covered under a black speaker grill cloth. Price for this upgrade is SEK 6500.
Specifications for either of these upgrade kits:
Sensitivity: 87dB
Impedance: 8 ohms
Frequency response: 40-20,000 Hz
2. Rauna Njord
For the Rauna Njord speakers, the company offers the Njord kit v2. This kit consists of 4 x 6,5 inch coated paper bass/mid-range driver units, 2 fabric treble soft domes and 2 crossovers. The drivers/cones are further mounted on a baffle, all nicely covered under a black speaker grill cloth. Price for this upgrade is SEK 9500.
3. Rauna Ymer
The Rauna Ymer model can be upgraded with the Ymer kit v2. This upgrade kit includes 4 x 6,5 inch coated paper bass/mid-range driver units, 2 fabric treble soft domes and 2 crossovers. Like before, the treble is placed between the bass driver units. The new driver units and crossovers are, however, a vast improvement. Price for this upgrade is SEK 7500.

Sensitivity: 91dB
Impedance: 4 ohms
Frequency response: 35-20,000 Hz
The Opus 3 speaker series
1. Opus 3 Chorus/Credo
Opus 3 Chorus/Credo can be upgraded with the Chorus upgrade kit, which is composed of 2 x 6,5 inch coated paper bass driver units, 2 fabric treble soft domes and 2 crossovers. This upgrade costs SEK 5000.
Specifications for this upgrade kit:
Sensitivity: 87dB
Impedance: 8 ohms
Frequency response: 45-20,000 Hz
2. Opus 3 Chaconne/Crescendo
Rauna of Sweden offers two upgrade kits for the Chaconne/Crescendo speakers – Chaconne/Crescendo kit respectively Chaconne/Crescendo kit Deluxe.
The Chaconne/Crescendo upgrade kit consists of 2 x 8 inch coated paper bass driver units, 2 fabric treble soft domes and 2 newly developped crossovers. This upgrade costs SEK 6000.
Specifications for this upgrade kit:
Sensitivity: 89dB
Impedance: 8 ohms
Frequency response: 30-20,000 Hz
Crossover frequency: 2100 Hz (12/18 dB crossover)
Continuous effect: 100 W
Drivers: 220 mm coated paper bass cone and 27 mm fabric treble cone
The drivers in the Chaconne/Crescendo kit Deluxe are from the SEAS Excel reference series and are mounted on a special baffle. Price for this upgrade is SEK 14900.

The speakers pictured above are yet another creation of the iconic speakers of the late Bo Hansson – the Opus 3 Crescendo.
Like the Raunas, these speakers are finished in concrete painted in white colour. In the right environment and set-up, these speakers sound fantastic. To get the most out of these speakers, they should ideally be placed in a larger room/listening environment (25-50 sqm) and 50-100 cm away from the nearest wall.
These Opus 3 Crescendo speakers, which appear to be in mint condition, are now up for sale (status as at 28 May 2017) in southern Sweden (Osby). Asking price is SEK 6500 (approx. EUR 670 or USD 750. Given their weight (60 kg), the seller prefers local pick-up.

Admittedly, this is certainly not the nicest pair of Rauna Njord speakers that I have come across to date, and they have unfortunately not been kept in their original form and finish. However, for someone who likes challenges (ideally a DIY person) and who has been looking for this model and sees the potential in these speakers after a much needed upgrade, there is now an opportunity to lay your hands on these iconic Swedish concrete speakers constructed by the late Bo Hansson (who also made the Rauna Leira speakers).
These speakers are located in Eskiltuna, Sweden and the asking price is SEK 1800 (approx. EUR 185 or USD 207). If you manage to knock down the price considerably and add the new Njord upgrade kit available from Rauna of Sweden, you will have pretty decent speakers for a small amount of money.

This is an opportunity for those of you who are looking for a pair of the iconic Swedish concrete speakers constructed by the late Bo Hansson (who also made the Rauna Leira speakers).
A guy in Mölndal, Sweden is currently (status as at 28 May 2017) selling his Opus 3 Chorus speakers. According to the seller, the speakers are in very good condition and have been upgraded with the new Chorus upgrade kit available from Rauna of Sweden. This kit is a complete upgrade and consists of 2 x 6,5 inch coated paper bass driver unit, 2 fabric treble soft domes and 2 crossovers. Asking price is SEK 4000 (approx. EUR 410 or USD 460. As the seller allegedly is not keen on shipping the speakers, any potential buyer must be prepared for local pick-up.
